      sublimation happens when a solid goes straight to being a gas without being a liquid first. Its one of those processes that gets discussed in chemistry.

      This happens when you have a compound that is too cold to be a liquid, so it is a solid, but you then change the pressure so that it is more stable as a gas than as a solid. When this happens, it goes straight from being a solid to being a gas without becoming a liquid.
