I agree with Nick, its thought our planet is 4.54 billion years old, which is pretty old and contradicts what various religious texts such as the Bible say.

Yup, the earth is around 4.5 billion years old, which is pretty old, considering that the universe is about 14 billion years old, and that humans have only existed for about a 100 thousand years. There has been life on earth for about 3.5 billion years, so even though we are new arrivals, things have been living here for most of earth’s history.
