we’ve got sensors in our skin that tells us what is going on. Sometimes these can get triggered by something, e.g. clothes or an irritant and when this happens the sensors tell the nerves to fire messages to the brain. The brain then says ‘I’m itchy!’ and the skin tingles. There are all sorts of chemical reactions going on here too.
