Not really. Well, I’ve met some famous scientitsts, including a couple of Nobel Prize winners, but not anyone who is famous outside of science.

I’ve met some fairly famous scientists and we had an Olympic gold medallist come to the open day at my work to talk about sports science, but mostly, no.

Like Iain and Jane, I meet some famous scientists but not many celebrities. I met David Attenborough one time, when we did some work for one of his TV programmes.

      Hi midget123
I’ve met a few famous scientists (e.g. James Watson, part of ‘Watson and Crick’ who discovered DNA). When I worked in the NHS with families with genetic conditions I did meet a few famous people as patients but I can’t tell you as I have to protect their confidentiality. Confidentiality is a very important part of healthcare, particularly with genetics. When you see the doctor to discuss something he/she takes great care not to share your personal information with anyone else outside the healthcare team. This is one of the areas I research, e.g. who does your genetic information belong to – is it just you? or what about all your relatives that you share it with? afterall, you share your genes with your parents and brothers and sisters.

Not really. Although, I did meet Brian Cox (the actor, not the Prof.) as part of the launch of our sequencing facility last year. I analysed his genome as a bit of publicity stunt.
