• Question: Have you ever worked on animal's genetic disorders?

      Hi @kcaj
      When I did my degree in genetics I did work with fruit flies to study the way the genes work in the embryo and what happens if you move the genes around. However, I have not worked on any animal genetics since then. I’m more interested in the impact of genetic disorders on people. However, if you are interested in animal genetics and also interested in making lots of money then head for the equestrian genetics – horse breeding is definitely where the money is!

      No, my work has mostly involved humans, or looking directly at the other living organisms that make humans ill like bacteria and viruses.

      Yes, I have. But primarily these have been on disorders that have similarities to human disorders. By understanding them better in the animals we can hopefully understand them better in humans.
