I’m going to claim 29. I was part of the team that was the first to look at the whole mouse genome, which was in 2002. Since then, we’ve been involved with the gorilla genome, and a study that compared 29 mammals’ genomes all at once. Since the 29 included mouse and gorilla, I guess that’s my total.

I look at genomes from different, but closely related bacteria and compare them to find the differences, so I’m going to claim 2000, which is the size of the data set I am currently looking at. Finding out something is the same as something you’ve already looked at counts as decoding, right? 😉
